Edinburgh Airport Rail Link (EARL)
tie Limited was appointed to deliver the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link (EARL) in 2003. This followed an announcement by the then Scottish Executive to develop proposals for a link to Edinburgh Airport and a station beside the terminal.
tie successfully introduced the EARL Bill to Parliament in March 2006 and achieved Royal Assent in April 2007. The Parliament voted to review the project in June 2007 and to suspend it in September 2007. Work completed to date on the design of EARL will be preserved and archived in a manner which does not close down future options.

Congestion Charging
With traffic levels in Edinburgh projected to grow by over 25% by the year 2016, and clean air targets to be achieved, the preferred transport strategy in 2002 included a £900m package of transport improvements funded by congestion charging.
tie undertook all aspects of promoting and delivering the congestion charging scheme, including: obtaining approval in principal from Scottish Ministers and managing a Public Inquiry. With a recommendation from the Public Inquiry to proceed, the local authority conducted a referendum, achieving a 62% turn out. Despite the referendum terminating the project, the work undertaken by tie would have ensured a smooth, cost-effective implementation of the scheme

One-Ticket
tie limited entered into an operating agreement with One-Ticket Ltd in April 2003 to provide administrative services to the scheme. The Company is a “partnership” between the nine member Councils of SESTRAN and the transport operators who operate within the SESTRAN area.

Flexible and easy to use, One-Ticket is a multi-modal, multi-operator pass that allows public transport users unlimited travel on most buses and trains on a daily, weekly, four-weekly or annual basis.
